Minutes for the WSWCD meeting December 11, 2025, at the Wakulla County Extension Office, 84 Cedar Avenue, Crawfordville, FL 32327
The meeting was called to order at 6pm by Chairman David Shepard. Other members present were Kellie Keys, Emily Johnson, Cole Hall and Cal Jamison.
There were no guests.
The agenda was approved unanimously. Moved by Kellie, 2nd by Emily.
The minutes for the November13, 2025, meeting were approved unanimously. Moved by Kellie, 2nd by Emily.
Emily gave the Treasurer report. The Prime Meridian balance is $13,220.09.
There were no Citizens to be heard.
Old Business:
Cole Hall Appoint letter: Kellie notified Joe Morgan, Supervisor of Elections, of Cole’s appointment. Cal will send out sample of appointment letter.
The Florida Department of Commerce report was completed and the $175.00 fee paid per Emily.
Kellie is completing the Florida Department of Agriculture report.
New Business:
Cal reported that the Florida Department of Environmental Protection awarded Wakulla County $6.1 million dollars for the septic to sewer program for Wakulla Gardens, Magnolia Ridge and one other subdivision.
The We All Take From the River game was discussed, and it was decided that we purchase two of the games at $59.00 each. Moved by Kellie, 2nd by Cole and passed unanimously.
Supervisor Items:
David said that the land swap between the National Forest and the County is off the table. The rapid growth of the County was discussed noting the recent spate of developments and lack of infrastructure. Cal reported that the County has been applying much more asphalt millings along the roadways. Emily will contact the Arbor Day event folks to see about us participating. She will report back at the next meeting. Kellie said that we should make the poster contest “our own” since the sponsored contest will not be going to state or national levels. The theme this year is soil. Cole said that he would re-up for Seat 1 in January.
Cal gave the springs update stating that the water continues to have a green cast and suspended solids. Otters have been observed on the dock and in the swimming area recently. The visibility was 43.8’ today and the flow remains strong and the stage gage is at 5.1’ above sea level.
The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7:11pm. Moved by Cole, 2nd by Emily.
